The GREAT news you've been waiting for!

Cutting (sorry, poor choice of words?) right to the chase, Donna's surgery was a success!!!! Her super hero surgeon Dr. Barker said they were able to "take out everything they'd intended to take out (i.e. eggplant sized tumor), and then put Donna all  back together again.  Sounds just  like a sweet nursery rhyme! I pictured them sewing Donna up and wrapping her head in a shiny red bow. :-)

Surgery lasted about 6 1/2 hours, with a two hour prep time.....while technically this is a long azz surgery, for Donna and her surgical team, this was FAST.  Previous surgeries have clocked in at up to 18 hours.  YIKES!

Highlights from the marathon length day:

Pre-surgery, Donna's amazing and beautiful young O.R. nurse Alice was asking her a serious of questions while taking handwritten  notes.

Alice: Do you have any allergies?

Donna: Yes, I'm allergic to orange tabbies.

Alice: *pause* You are allergic to orange cabbies???  (And writes it down in her notebook).

Post surgery in the ICU, Ten and I arrived to meet Michael  the nurse and have a quick visit with Donna. Michael greeted us with "she is a hoot!"  Sure enough, Donna was wide awake, trying to convince Michael to bring her a hot toddy, for real!

As usual, Donna approached this latest surgery with humor,  pluck, and a healthy splash of gusto! Or as her buddy Hillel aptly noted, with a TAKE NO PRISONERS attitude.  Donna is simply amazing.....

By the way, I bet Donna is totally gonna have something to say about my choice of the word "pluck"... and  trust me,  I can't WAIT to discuss this with her, at HOME in Valhalla, over steaming mugs of hot toddies, while the lap-bound Dr. Coco The Great works her purrrrrrry, healing magic on our favorite super hero.
