ICEd

Guess what. People are dying in ICE custody. They’ve been dying from abuse and neglect all along. Shockarooni, eh?

In February, Maksym Chernayak, a Ukranian man, suffered a stroke. ICE staff at the Krome Service Processing Center in Miami-Dade County took more than 40 minutes to call 911. The nurse noted that he appeared to be drunk. He’d been in Krome for more than two weeks. That’s some damned potent hootch if he’s still blitzed two weeks into his imprisonment, eh?

Where’d the nurse get their training? Trump University?

Later that day, on February 18, a doctor wrote that Chernyak had irreversible brain damage. He died two days later. He escaped Russia's war on his homeland only to be killed by the country who was supposedly giving him shelter from the storm.

29 year old Genry Ruiz Guillen supposedly died of “complications of schizoaffective disorder.” Sure.

Michael Baden, a former chief medical examiner of New York City....reviewed the autopsies and said the finding that Ruiz-Guillen died of “complications of schizoaffective disorder” does not answer the question of how he died.

While the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner Department ruled that both men died of “natural” causes, a Miami Herald investigation found evidence of what experts described as questionable medical care for the two immigrants. (source
Yeah duh! Read the full Miami Herald article. It looks like both men died from incompetent, error riddled treatment.
Over the past month, we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of people being detained by ICE across Florida, and Trump's border czar recently promised to lower the standards required of ICE detention. This is a dangerous combination building upon an already deadly system. As the Trump administration and Florida state leaders seek to amplify this cruel mass deportation agenda, the scale of these preventable and devastating deaths in ICE custody will exponentially increase.

This was five months ago in February. Shit’s only gotten worse.

Last month, on May 5th, Abelardo Avellaneda Delgado died in the back of a van while being moved from a local jail to a federal detention center in Georgia. He was 68. Just a wee bit older than me.

The article (go read it!) says he was drugged (ICE claims he had just taken “his medications.” His children, who lived with him, said that prior to incarceration he hadn’t been taking any meds) and he was in a wheelchair (before ICE he was fully, independently ambulatory).

A Canadian man who had been a permanent resident of the US for more than 30 years was taken by ICE on May 15. Johnny Noviello, 49, died in their not so tender Floridian care on June 23rd. Why? How? //shrugs// ICE isn’t even offering their usual fiction.

WHAT is ICE doing that turns reasonably healthy individuals into corpses in record time? How soon will Homan, Miller, and Noem start kitting out these “detention centers” with puppy, goat, immigrant killing gravel pits, forests of hanging trees and Auschwitz style “showers.”

Then there’s Iris Dayana Monterroso-Lemus. She was taken by the American Gestapo in Lenoir City, Tennessee. After her arrest she eventually ended up in Richwood Correctional Center in Louisiana. When she first got to Richwood she was four to five months pregnant. There was no medical care there or in any of the previous three holding Hells where she and other prisoners were made to sleep on the floor.

Once in Louisiana, she said she often felt she was “starving,” and that she wasn’t getting the nutrients she needed, adding that the food was so poor that many detainees would throw it away rather than eat it. She described spaghetti served with tube-shaped ground beef and even cockroaches. She also said she experienced mistreatment and mocking from the guards.

She said she was given 12 pills to take daily, though the Banner was unable to independently verify this. She took them for two days before stopping, convinced something was wrong. A few days later, she began pleading for help.

“I begged the doctors,” she said. “I told them, ‘Please, take me to the hospital. I don’t feel well. I’m having contractions.’”

But she said they dismissed her concerns, telling her the pain was normal because the baby was growing.  (source

On April 29th she was finally admitted to a health center where she went through spontaneous vaginal delivery after experiencing intrauterine fetal death. The clinical notes state that the pregnancy was “complicated by no PNC,” meaning she had received no prenatal care.

Two federal guards watched over her the entire time. They even shackled her feet as though she would/could otherwise jump up and run away.

What fucking ghouls!

And this is what the self named party of life, the party of family values has given us. They're about nothing but hate, suffering, and death.

RESIST!
