I don’t make resolutions -- at least none special for the new year. Why do it just once a year?
This doesn’t mean that I’m an accomplishing queen. Mais non!
On Donna’s perma goal rotation:
* lose 15 pounds
* exercise more (walk more, trike more and lift those damned weights!)
* eat more veggies/fewer cuppycakes
* drink more water/fewer martinis
* focus, focus, focus
which goes hand in hand with
* LIVE IN THE MOMENT!
* keep an open mind
* think creatively and in the immortal words (paraphrased) of Frankenfurter, don’t just dream it -- DO IT
* become fluent in ASL
* learn more Italian than just the mega fun phrases
(e.g., ‘in bocca al lupo’ with the rejoinder ‘crepe al lupo!’ and ‘in culo alla balena’ with the rejoinder ‘speriamo che non caghi and Quando il gatto non c’è topi ballano!’ Go to Google translate -- it's a wonderful thing)
* remember that very few things in this world are pure good or completely bad (Saint Fratelli’s Tiramisu and the US House of Representatives excepted, of course)
* learn more German too
* learn to live within the complex grey of reality
* remember that you can’t have the yin without the yang and vice versa
* strive to refrain from making snap judgements about people, situations and the water temp when I’m attempting my first swim of the year (which won’t be until summer, thenkyewveddymuch. I am most def not an L Street Brownie!)
* remember the words of Lao Tzu -- ‘A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.’
Oh yeah and...
* I gotta remember to cut myself some slack on occasion too.
