Everything is Broken

I've got that Dylan tune, Everything is Broken, stuck in my head lately. Warum?

Ever have one of those weeks, months, lives where just about everything and it's mother seems to be crapping out? The whole smelly business looks like one of those mega domino toppling events?

Mine started with Horace the Silver Beetle's new prob. I trust my mechanic. He’s an awesome dude. He says the needed fix would be monster expensive but Horace is cool for errand running around town.

Luckily, that’s generally all I need the car for since I’m not doing a big ass commute every day. Plus Jen has her own reliable car now.

The Oven

We’re on our third oven since moving into Valhalla by the Sea 11 years ago. Yes, you read that right -- THIRD oven. The first came with the house and died a week after we moved in. The second one lasted a few years before going all dying swan on us. Oven #3? It’s clearly depressed -- possibly feels overwhelmed by all The Amazing Bob’s baking. Dunno.

Luckily it’s summer so TAB’s not whipping up as many startlingly awesome pies, cakes and cookies. It’s smoothie season!

Roof, Roof

You know that Jen and Oni’s casa and TAB and mine are conjoined twins, right? Above ground we appear to be two separate houses but we’re connected through a basement, secret passageway. Too cool.

Well, both joints need new rooves/roofs (?). Additionally, four windows in the kid’s (this is how TAB and I refer to Jen and Oni) house need to be replaced, their chimney has to be rebuilt, new exterior doors on both houses are needed, our kitchen floor is sagging and that’s just to start.

This ain’t gonna be cheap.

Luckily, we love where we live AND our contractor, who lives less than a mile away, seems really straight up, reasonably priced and, just generally, fabola. We feel confident there won’t be a repeat of our last contractor debacle.

Phew.

Compuker (as TAB terms it) crap

Our internet connection has gone all wonky. Back in the days of floppy disks and Apple Performa 250s, I could fix my own computer. Mostly. Somewhere along the line, I seem to have gone full metal gangsta Luddite. I don’t wanna know how anything works, I just want it to function. Smoothly. NOW!

Luckily, Jen’s brother-in-law, PJ is a fabulous IT dude. His company? TechSense.

Inside Rain

After my Monday post trike ride shower, I came down to the kitchen and found that our ocean had moved indoors. OK no...BUT there were loads and scads of puddles. The rain room is directly above the kitchen.

Luckily we have a tremendous plumber, Jack Chenette. Within a few hours, one of his ace dudes showed up.

Is everything all fixed now? Is everything all better now? Nope but it’s on the way.

Good thing we’re so damned lucky!
