HEY Lady!!!

Susan Greene, a reporter and editor for The Colorado Independent in Denver, came upon a scene – two police officers confronting an African-American man who was sitting on a public sidewalk. Given all the bad, asshole cops with their shoot first reaction to black men she was concerned and went in to be a witness, to film. She was busted for her humanity and told, on being cuffed, to:

“Stand up straight,” (Officer) Paulsen tells Greene. “Act like a lady.”  

“Stand up and act like a lady,” (Officer) Brooks says. 

“Are you fucking kidding me?” Greene responds. “Act like a lady?” 

“There you go,” Brooks says. “Now you can go to jail.”  

After the officers handcuff her, the body-cam footage shows, Greene complains the officers are hurting her as Brooks and Paulsen lead her to the back of a squad car. The officers can be heard telling her that the pain is a result of how she is walking, and that she should “stop resisting.”

Greene said today that the (just released body-cam) footage confirmed her initial impression of the incident. 

“It squares exactly like how I remember it,” she said. “The only thing I didn’t realize is that when it was happening, both of the police officers told me to act like a lady, which raises the question: How exactly should a lady act when being wrongly detained on a public sidewalk for exercising First Amendment rights?” (source)

Who knows what, if anything, would have happened to the black guy sitting on the sidewalk had Citizen Greene not become involved. Maybe, hopefully, nothing fucked up woulda gone down at all. BUT the officers reacted très defensively, molto jackbootedly and just a tad suspiciously toward her. That doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence that Officers Good Doobies were just kindly helping a poor, down on his luck man of color.

Lets get to that admonition “act like a lady.” Do they chide male journos, who they’re cuffing and depriving of First Amendment rights, to act like gentleman?

Yeah, I’d be pretty much stunned silent if they did.

What archaic world do these idiots inhabit. AND do police get ANY social skills and/or diplomacy training at all? Do Neanderthals NOT get noticed and screened out during the interview process?

Act like a lady? What? We've fallen into a time loop – it’s 1955 again and being a boorish and barbaric unreconstituted misogynist is now all the rage? Given the occupant of the White House, I wouldn’t be at all surprised.

Now that I think of it, ya know who does act the lady? The Giant Toddler in Chief's fave piece of ass and spawn – Princess Tone Deaf Dimbulb of Privilegestan. Hmmm, I think I'll take a pass on that ladylike horseshit. K?
