I’m a little out of it this morning. Warum? Eh, I was out at Great Wolf Lodge – a HUGE indoor water park, hotel/resort and conference center out near Leominster.
On top of the vast, fun water playground (which includes a brobdingnagian, twisting, multi-story funnel-encased slide, a weaving and wiggling river, water fort tree houses with slides, hot tubs and so much more!), there’s an arcade with every damn game a kid (or adult-kid) could want. They’ve got a multi-level ropes course, mini-golf, a bowling alley, an exercise room and at least two restaurants.
The hotel rooms are totally fabola too – BIG and very high end. I could’ve spent the entire time just lounging about, reading and sipping vino on my comfy divan with the wooded view. Better still, Helen and fam’s room was connected to mine. We could leave the door open, come and go as we pleased. Perfect!
The down side of this aqueous escape? It was wall to wall kids. Of course it was! The joint’s totally set up as a family holiday fun-time place. It’s perfect for that.
We’d like to visit again sometime this winter but def mid-week when rug-rats are in school. This’d be a great, FUN escape for adult bairn. It put Iceland’s Blue Lagoon in mind. If the Lagoon had a baby with 6 Flags this would SO be their enormous baby.
I miss the Silica – the NON theme park hotel and lagoon that Jen and I think of as heaven on dark chocolate laced valium. There’s a chance we’ll be there again in February – fingers crossed!
While I was being overwhelmed by the short, sugared up populace of Wolf Lodge, Jen and Oni were returning from a family do in Niagara Falls. Yep, the weekend was water-centric.
In lieu of more words, (did I mention this morning’s mega discombobulation?) here, have some images from our awesome weekends:
