I was not expecting this but I'll take it

I don’t have a subscription to the New York Times anymore. Of course I don’t. I canceled years ago when it became clear they were no longer a legit source for political commentary. The NYT Pitchbot's Twitter posts became nearly indistinguishable from actual NYT headlines.

In case you didn’t know, the NYT Pitchbot satirizes the New York Times headlines and articles.
With his account, NYT Pitchbot imagines the Times formula for stories as a kind of wheezing algorithm, a bot churning out contrarian headlines and half-baked hot takes. “I was a lifelong liberal Democrat,” begins one mock pitch for the Times opinion section. “Then reproductive rights activists held a vigil in front of Brett Kavanaugh’s house.” Another: “Ukrainians Have Sunk the Russian Warship Moskva. Here’s why that’s bad news for Joe Biden.” (Like “Dems in Disarray,” “Bad News for Biden” is something of a catchphrase for the account.) (source

NYT Pitchbot is a real person. Other examples of his posts?

“Sources close to Jared and Ivanka said that privately the couple opposes the pandemic.”

“We wanted to understand what’s happening in Afghanistan. So we talked to three unvaccinated Trump supporters at an Arby’s in Harrisburg.”

“Times have been tough in this Ohio town ever since the woke mob shut down the old ivermectin factory.”
Well, the Gray Lady, surprisingly, has just endorsed Kamala Harris. First, they totally shred their previously beloved evil clown. Did they get tired of losing subscribers? Did gaslighting the public become boring? They’re  maybe just tired of kissing Trump Crime Syndicate ass? Their attempt at being more loony tunes than Fox and Newsmax wasn’t gaining them enough new friends? They finally noticed that Clownface von ShitzenPantz has been threatening to jail anyone "involved in unscrupulous behavior" during this election, which “would be under intense scrutiny.” His definition of “unscrupulous” is “anyone who disagrees with me or contradicts any of the shit I spew.” He’s long accused the press of being an “enemy of the American people.” Did the NYT finally snap to the fact that THEY were and are included in that club? Has it just now occurred to them that trump’s batshit, hair-trigger violence-prone cultists will be coming for them too?

It’s a mystery, I tell ya. Anyway, here’s the shred and endorsement.

Victor Juhasz
It is hard to imagine a candidate more unworthy to serve as president of the United States than Donald Trump. He has proved himself morally unfit for an office that asks its occupant to put the good of the nation above self-interest. He has proved himself temperamentally unfit for a role that requires the very qualities — wisdom, honesty, empathy, courage, restraint, humility, discipline — that he most lacks.

Those disqualifying characteristics are compounded by everything else that limits his ability to fulfill the duties of the president: his many criminal charges, his advancing age, his fundamental lack of interest in policy and his increasingly bizarre cast of associates.

This unequivocal, dispiriting truth — Donald Trump is not fit to be president — should be enough for any voter who cares about the health of our country and the stability of our democracy to deny him re-election.

For this reason, regardless of any political disagreements voters might have with her, Kamala Harris is the only patriotic choice for president.

Meanwhile, happy 100th birthday to Jimmy Carter! I hope he lives long enough to vote for Kamala Harris AND see her inauguration.

The moment we no longer have a free press, anything can happen. What makes it possible for a totalitarian or any other dictatorship to rule is that people are not informed; how can you have an opinion if you are not informed? If everybody always lies to you, the consequence is not that you believe the lies, but rather that nobody believes anything any longer.

...And a people that no longer can believe anything cannot make up its mind. It is deprived not only of its capacity to act but also of its capacity to think and to judge. And with such a people you can then do what you please.
