If you haven’t seen it already, actor Jon Cryer has a thread up on Twitter helpfully listing a few of the more obvs and blatants reasons Trump and his crime cartel need to be impeached.
I’ve taken his tweets, looked up the stories in the NOT Trump ball gargling/Republi/Fascist media (AKA ANYBODY but Fox) and re-listed with quotes (AND links) from the respectable news sources. The Tangerine Turd’s a one man impeach-o-matic. YES, Mitch the Criminally Obstructive Turtle WILL fly in the face of decency and democracy to cover Resident 45’s grotesque ass. As long as Republi/Fascists rule the Senate, we won’t see justice BUT we should still do it. Rabid badgers and feral, on-the-take skunks prefer the dark. Let’s throw some damn klieg-lights on these motherfucking thieves!
Guess what...IMPEACHABLE.
In the last tweet, Cryer noted that:
Retweet Cryer's thread, share this (!), call your congresscritters and be a nudge! Do it, do it do it! These vipers (not to dis vipers, mind you) have GOT to be kicked to the curb!

Impeachy Reason 1) President Trump has personally and repeatedly urged the head of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to award a border wall contract to a North Dakota construction firm whose top executive is a GOP donor and frequent guest on Fox News, according to four administration officials. (source)This is a subversion of the process and a corrupt abuse of power – an impeachable offense.
Impeachy Reason 2) In April, two outlets confirmed Trump had urged a senior DHS official to ignore a judge’s order & then mentioned his pardon for Judge Arpaio, implying he’d provide a presidential pardon if the official faced legal consequences. (source)This is an abuse of power and an impeachable offense
Impeachy Reason 3) The White House on Tuesday invoked executive privilege to bar former White House counsel Donald McGahn from complying with a congressional subpoena to provide documents to Congress related to special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation..…Democrats rejected the White House moves as illegitimate, arguing that the Trump administration hadn’t officially completed the paperwork to assert privilege. And even if it had, the committee continued, it would not apply because the White House waived privileged for McGahn long ago. (source)This is obstruction of justice and an impeachable offense.
Impeachy Reason 4) Cohen announced that he was withdrawing his commitment to appear — because, his lawyer said, of “threats against his family” from President Trump and his lawyer Rudy Giuliani.Witness intimidation counts, by the by, as obstruction of justice and it’s, GUESS WHAT, an impeachable offense.
On several occasions over the past month and a half, Trump has publicly floated ominous innuendos about how Cohen’s father-in-law (and in one instance, Cohen’s wife) could be tied to criminal activity… (source)
Impeachy Reason 5) President Trump has tried to use the presidency to enrich himself by promoting his businesses as extensions of his administration. That includes conducting government business at them, praising them in his official capacity, and even going so far as to offer exclusive perks to members of his clubs including access to government leaders, influence on government business, and in some cases, appointments to government positions. (source)He’s making himself even more filthy rich than he was before, all by boldly violating the emoluments clause of the constitution. I betcha you already figured this one out – that's an impeachable offense.
Impeachy Reason 6) Donald Trump’s golf habit has already cost taxpayers at least $102 million in extra travel and security expenses, and next month will achieve a new milestone: a seven-figure presidential visit to another country so he can play at his own course. (source)AND we're at yet another part of that pesky emoluments clause. Also too, it's a corrupt abuse of power.
Guess what...IMPEACHABLE.
In the last tweet, Cryer noted that:
"This list is by no means comprehensive and it omits the 10 incidents of obstruction of justice that are in the Mueller report. Those same incidents that caused over 1000 former federal prosecutors to sign a statement that Trump would be indicted if he were a private citizen."The Sunlight Foundation, a nonpartisan nonprofit which advocates for transparency and accountability in government, has a database which tracks ugly boy and his family’s myriad conflicts of interest.

There's no doubt that Trump has committed countless impeachment-worthy offenses. He passed that goalpost long ago.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that there's no possibility of impeachment removing him (since that would take 20 Republican Senators to vote for conviction) and would probably leave him stronger than before, since his base would become even more riled up and he would proclaim himself vindicated after the Senate refused to remove him.
Also, the American public oppose impeachment by a huge margin. So impeachment would not kick anyone to the curb. It would strengthen Trump and commit the Democratic party as a whole to a course most voters don't want. This is not what we need to be doing right before the election, which is our real chance to remove Trump.
The frustrated urge to "do something" can all too easily stampede us into doing something that would leave us worse off and blow our real opportunity.
Oh, you're right. you're right BUT I want accountability. I want it to be known, even in the darkest corners, that this motherfucker's a crook, a charlatan and not deserving of his office.
DeleteLast night a friend remarked that he wanted Trump, once voted out, to just fade away. He won't though. As long as he's out of jail and has a phone, he'll be roaring on with his lies and inane accusations. He'll start an uncivil war all for the sake of his ego.
