Wordy

Coco is unimpressed by my vocab
Orgulous
adjective
haughty; proud.
She orgulously flaunted her big vocaulary.
Ansa
noun
either of the apparent extremities of the rings of Saturn or of other planets, especially when viewed from a distance under certain conditions, when they look like two handles.
ansa comes via French anse “handle” from Latin ānsa “handle (of a cup, a door), a loop, an opening, an opportunity.”
I suspect this one, outside of sci fi writing and astronomy circles, is never, ever used. Rilly now, how often would anyone, even in those groups, have the opportunity to break this baby out.
Yeah I just picked up a sweet condo on the ansa end of the fattest ring of Saturn – awesome view of Jupiter and there’s a pool!
Thalassic
adjective
of or relating to seas and oceans.
I, recalling the crimson chamber in his castle, speculated upon his living arrangements in thalassic caverns I could scarcely conceive.
~ Gene Wolfe, The Urth of the New Sun
Once again, a good word for sci fi writers. Also too, cave divers.

Insipience
noun
lack of wisdom; foolishness.
If he was still just a reality TV shitheel, the Tangerine Twat’s radical insipience would be merely laughable.
Ex Cathedra
adjective, adverb
from the seat of authority; with authority:
Merriam Webster tells me that:
…the phrase was originally applied to decisions made by Popes from their thrones. According to Roman Catholic doctrine, a Pope speaking ex cathedra on issues of faith or morals is infallible. In general use, the phrase has come to be used with regard to statements made by people in positions of authority, and it is often used ironically to describe someone speaking with overbearing or unwarranted self-certainty.
As in:
Trump’s ex cathedra pronouncement about the Continental Army taking over airports during the revolutionary war is more evidence of his sad divorce from reality. Also too, stone stupidity.
Venal
adjective
open to bribery; mercenary.
comes from Latin vēnālis “for sale, for hire, susceptible to or obtainable by bribery,”
Under the word “venal” in the old Oxord English Dictionery is a picture of Mitch McConnell.
Epiphonema
noun
a sentence that is an exclamation, a general or striking comment, or a succinct summary of what has previously been said.
To round off his argument, Montaigne reaches for an epiphonema ... “Oh, what a sweet and soft and healthy pillow is ignorance and incuriosity, to rest a well-made head!”
~ Kathy Eden, “Cicero’s Portion of Montaigne’s Acclaim,” Brill’s Companion to the Reception of Cicero
OR
Preznint Brainless J. Dumpster Fire is spectaulary unfit for ANY public office.
OK, I didn’t use epiphonema in the sentece BUT that is a motherfucking epiphonema!

Facetiae
plural noun
amusing or witty remarks or writings.

Even with serious topics, I strive for facetiae. Why?
Being Irish, he had an abiding sense of tragedy, which sustained him through temporary periods of joy.
~ William Butler Yeats
Life is a comedy to those who think, a tragedy to those who feel.
~ Jean Racine
And if you think AND feel, it's both and you're constantly pulled in two extreme directions. Well, I am anyway.
He who climbs upon the highest mountains laughs at all tragedies, real or imaginary.
~ Friedrich Nietzsche, Also sprach Zarathustra
Laughing through life’s pains, sorrows and loss doesn’t mean I’m failing to embrace the seriousness, the heavyosity of it all. Nope. It's sanity maintenance.

Myopic
adjective
unable or unwilling to act prudently; shortsighted.
NOT cracking wise, not laughing in the face of overwheling pain would be myopic of me.
Motte
noun
a grove or clump of trees in prairie land or open country.

NOT the same thing at all BUT now I have Mott the Hoople’s tune All the Way from Memphis playing in my head. OOO, and now All the Young Dudes is spinning up there. Cool!

Shog
verb (used without object)
to jog along.

NB: NOT shag but shog
I must shog home now. Ten is making his abso-brill QUICHE. Can’t miss that!
