Word for the day:
Recrudescence
noun
the return of something terrible after a time of reprieve. To become raw again; to become worse
The US has welcomed a recrudescence of full on racist, woman hating, immigrant scapegoating, LGBTQ despising government. We're fucked.
Here we are. This is more horrifying than 2016. We didn’t know for sure back then, just how awful and incompetent and vile Trump is. We ALL should have known better this time.
Seven states in the US have approved measures to protect or expand abortion rights, but bids to restore protections for the procedure failed in Florida, South Dakota and Nebraska. (source)In March of this year Trump said he supported a 15 week nationwide abortion ban. Toward the end of the campaign he said states should determine their own abortion policies. We already know how badly that’s playing out. How many more women must die before the Fascist Party understands or even cares that abortion IS healthcare. Apparently, to the rightwing control freaks and christians-in-name-only, women are nothing but expendable bang-maids.
What will he do once he’s back in office? My money’s on him doing whatever the fuck will line his pockets with buckos. He has zero core beliefs or care for women’s health and safety. He’ll say and do anything as long as it ultimately serves his purposes.
It’s probably more important to see what J.D. Couchfucker says. After all, he and his Heritage Foundation puppet masters are the ones who will actually be calling the shots. Trump’s just their frontman.
Those seven states that voted to amend their state constitutions to protect abortion rights? Arizona, Colorado, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska and New York. HOWEVER:
Trump’s return to the White House means those hard-fought efforts may amount to nothing. Despite the gridlock in US Congress, a nationwide abortion ban could soon become a reality: anti-abortion advocates hope that Trump will resurrect a 19th-century anti-vice law to effectively implement a nationwide ban. Access to other forms of reproductive healthcare, such as contraception and in vitro fertilization, are also at risk.
Because he’s barred from a third term Trump can now do whatever he wants without fear of electoral consequences, said Mary Ziegler, a professor at the University of California, Davis who studies the legal history of reproduction. (source)
IF Trump makes it through the next four years without being Amendment 25ed OR succumbing to his Big Mac, Coke and Adderall addictions, will there be elections in four years? I'm not betting on it.
Also, so much for US citizens caring about how old and infirm the president is, eh? I guess being elderly is only an important factor if the candidate’s a Democrat. Trump is closing in on 80 and is obviously in physical and mental decline. He’ll be the oldest president ever to assume office AND the only convicted felon.
We’ve just handed the guy who’s promised public tribunals and firing squads, unlimited power. I hope every single person who voted for Trump and Stein contract painful, fatal diseases and can’t afford healthcare.
"This is not a time to throw up our hands," Harris said. "This is a time to roll up our sleeves. This is a time to organize, to mobilize and to stay engaged for the sake of freedom and justice and the future that we all know we can build together." (source)It's gonna take me a few days to get to the roll up the sleeves point. Right now, I’m still trying to reduce my panic levels. Maybe a couple million bon bons will help?
