Eve

I need some breakfast carrot cake. YES, that’s a healthy choice!

Carrots are vegetables, cream cheese is dairy, there’s an egg in there somewhere. So, protein, vegetables and dairy? Carrot cake is, essentially, an omelet or a salad or something.

Right?

Did I ever tell you about the time my mother tried to fix me up with a young man from her church (Catholic) who was planning to become a priest? I was an 18 year old freshman in college. My mother knew full well that priests are supposed to be celibate BUT I guess she figured I’d talk (seduce) him out of those plans.

Yeah, that would have worked.

THIS is how well my mother knew and understood me. Okay…really? She wasn’t interested AT ALL in what I wanted out of a relationship. Her priest pick was about what she would have chosen for herself.

The metamorphosis which began in 2020, when my epic surgery-a-thon kicked off, is complete. I’m now six cats, four armadillos, two hedgehogs, and a German Shepard in a Gumby costume—accessorized with a demure string of pearls (of course).

Now that this has been revealed I suppose it’s time to announce that I’M GUMBY DAMMIT!

Found on Ten’s blog, the minimum wage in 21 states will be raised as of tomorrow, January 1, 2025. Fer example:

  • Washington’s will be $16.66
  • California, $16.50
  • Connecticut, $16.35
  • New York, $15.50
  • New Jersey, $15.49

The current minimum wage in Massachusetts is $15.00 per hour which, considering we’re one of the more expensive states in the union, is too damn low. Also, if the minimum wage had risen at the same rate as productivity growth since 1968 it would now be almost $21.50 an hour. The highest hourly wage I ever made was $20.

The highest minimum wage is in Washington, D.C.—$17.50 an hour. Meanwhile, Georgia and Wyoming pay a ridiculously low $5.15 per hour.

States where the minimum wage remains a paltry $7.25 per hour?
Alabama, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin

I only mention it but, except for New Hampshire, these are all Trump/Musk voting states.

It’s New Year’s Eve. I haven’t come up with any resolutions yet. I rarely do though. Realistic goals?

1)  Increase my walking and PT exercising
2)  Consume less pasta
3)  Reduce my doomscrolling
4)  Transform myself into Kali and destroy evil, greedheaded, corporate motherfuckers and defend the innocent
5)  Stay out of jail

Goals four and five might be a challenge. I can, mebbe, do four but not five OR five but not four.

Deeper, more expansive planning will be necessary.
