Day of the Hump

Words for this cold Wednesday when, *gasp, horror* SNOW is predicted and it is glacially fucking freezing out there too. (OK, Truth, It’s been much worse but for Bast’s sake it was 51º just two days ago! *sob*)

Alright, alright. Back to the words for today:

‘sup with this selection of lexemes, eh? I just started a new book -- I, Lucifer by Glen Duncan (quite the stone looker, no? Seriously, click on the linky and check him out!). It’s a memoir of sorts and I am SO into the fictional memoirs of late.

From Goodreads:
The Prince of Darkness has been given one last shot at redemption, provided he can live out a reasonably blameless life on earth. Highly sceptical, naturally, the Old Dealmaker negotiates a trial period - a summer holiday in a human body, with all the delights of the flesh.

The body, however, turns out to be that of Declan Gunn, a depressed writer living in Clerkenwell, interrupted in his bath mid-suicide. Ever the opportunist, and with his main scheme bubbling in the background, Luce takes the chance to tap out a few thoughts - to straighten the biblical record, to celebrate his favourite achievements, to let us know just what it's like being him.
Rocco emerges
Blossom Butt at Breakfast
As it turns out, our ‘man’ Lucifer has quite the tony vocab. Awesome! I just love a book that compels me to break out the dictionary.

In cat news on this arctic-ish day-of-the-hump, Schmooze Master Rocco Flash is finally making use of that ‘heated’ cat cottage. Yes, that very expensive feline flophouse is now occupied. For those of you keeping count, this is the third domicile for our fierce suburban jungle warrior ‘feral.’ Clearly he wants to be up there in McCain "I think -- I'll have my staff get to you" territory. Eh, I’ll worry when he requests a car elevator.

Our old friend Blossom the skunk (of course) stopped by this morning. Lovely, gorgeous creature but I truly hope she doesn’t move in to Rocco’s old digs.

And, because I’m such a thoughtful, felicitous (c’mon -- am too!) dame, here, have some more scenes from a warm weekend on Nantasket.
