Caturday PLUS

My brain needs a vaca from the latest horrors. I bet yours does too. What better salve than fuzzy bunnies? Oh yeah, and our old kittens are a splendid balm too. OF COURSE!

First ACTUAL fuzzy bunnies! A work friend of Jen’s spied these cuties in her yard yesterday. Yes, we’d love to have bunnies in our yard too but the neighborhood foxes and off-leash dogs would surely nail their pretty butts and fast.

And here, at right, is Jen’s former (not really – not like our dear departed boy, Rocco) feral Skitter doing her best what-the-hell-do-you-want cheescake pose. Good kitten!

Coco has proved to be a real big game hunter type. Below left, I managed a snap whilst she was on a recent hunt. I was innocently reading in bed when I sensed a stalker. Her goal? My lap. Swear to Bast, she’d stay there all damn day (‘cept meal times) and, doormat that I am, I’d let her.

Thelma, the senior grimalkin of the herd, is now 21. Can you believe that shit?! In human years she's 101!!! She moves slower, is def creaky, not into Hide and Seek games with Skitter anymore but she's doing AOK.

Ignorant people think it is the noise which fighting cats make that is so aggravating, but it ain't so; it is the sickening grammar that they use.
~ Mark Twain

I have studied many philosophers and many cats. The wisdom of cats is infinitely superior. ~ Hippolyte Taine
A home without a cat — and a well-fed, well-petted and properly revered cat — may be a perfect home, perhaps, but how can it prove title?
~ Mark Twain, Pudd'nhead Wilson

It can not, Mister Twain. Unpossible.

What sort of philosophers are we, who know absolutely nothing of the origin and destiny of cats?
~ Henry David Thoreau, Thoreau Journal 9

Shabby ones and that's a fact.

Dogs come when they're called; cats take a message and get back to you later.
~ Mary Bly

One reason that cats are happier than people is that they have no newspapers.
~ Gwendolyn Brooks, In the Mecca

TRUTH!
Arise from sleep, old cat,
And with great yawns and stretchings...
Amble out for love
~ Kobayashi Issa
