Arts, Crafts and Hope

Yesterday’s indictments were tremendous – they felt like glittering wrapped Christmas prezzies. I had hope for the first time since the election. Then I started reading news and blogs. It seems everyone, Left and Right, is anticipating that the Orange Menace will soon ax Mueller.

Will the Bloated Buttercup really make such a gigantic I’M GUILTY AS SIN move? Can he actually get away with such a stunningly huge show-yur-hand, tell-the-world-yur-a-big-fat-crook move? Wouldn’t it make more sense for him to simply pack it all up and, in the middle of the night, hightail it out to Moscow? If he stands and bellicosely pitches a fit, plays the Donnie Dictator card, the end’s gonna be even longer and more horrifically ugly. For all of us.

He and his Republican party are taking this country into the deepest, darkest corners of Hell.

Supposedly, there are a few Republicans who’ve allowed they’d kick up a fuss if he does plays the seriously stupid I'm-a-TREASONOUS-SWINE card. IF they do (and there’s absolutely no guarantee), I doubt it’ll make a dime’s bit of difference. There are far too many Repubs who’d back Trump even if he shot their kids and boned their fave dog.
Those who sow the wind will reap the whirlwind.

Midterm elections are one year and seven days away – November 6, 2018. Vote. My life, your life, OUR lives depend on the outcome. Vote. Get your parents, kiddles, nephews and nieces to vote. Get out and VOTE these motherfuckers OUT! Let's take away the Flaming Plague's gun-humping, death merchanting, family-hating "family values," reactionary filled, racist moat.

Yesterday was a very hard day. I also learned that Dennis Banks has moved on to whatever, if anything, comes next. I’m singing an honor song for him RIGHT now.

Dammit.

And now? I’m off to my Deep Core Challenge water aerobics class. Please enjoy these lovely crafts, seen last Friday when Felicity and I visited the Society of Arts and Crafts in their new location in the Seaport district. Always a good excuse for stopping in at Caffè Nero for wonderful Italian roast and fabuloso pastries. Yes, too many calories, bad for the diet and shit but SOMEtimes, ya just gotta cut loose and eat the damn cookie!

  1. Congress, including some of the Republicans, has given strong signals that they intend to protect Mueller from being removed by Trump. Most Republican politicians loathe Trump on a personal level -- remember how many of them he's casually insulted and belittled. Most of them won't take too open a stand against him, because they're afraid of his rabid followers and they need him to sign legislation (if they ever do get anything passed). But trying to crush the investigation at this point would practically amount to a coup against the rule of law. There are limits.

    1. I'm holding on to that last shred of hope that I, remarkably, still have.

  2. I've got to admit, I expect Trump to fire Mueller. The other high possibility is that trump starts
throwing blanket pardons to everyone working for him.

About the only good thing I am hoping for is that Mueller has some huge evidence that clearly indicates trump should be impeached and then convicted. As I mention in my post, about 30 to 33 percent of the country would follow him over a cliff.

Yeah, the coming midterms are our last, and despite it all, best hope to be rid of trump.

  3. This LA Times OpEd makes a lot of good points as to what Mueller can do if the Bloated Buttercup goes the blanket pardon route. http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-litman-greenberg-manafort-mueller-indictment-20171030-story.html
    A good read.

He fires Mueller and shits gonna get very, very real. I'm tired of waking up afraid of what's gonna happen next. This shit-show's got to end!

  4. Plenty of Republicans in Congress are supportive of Mueller. Which implies they would be very non-supportive of Trump if he tried to fire him. Remember, it takes only a small number of Republicans plus all the Democrats to get an impeachment through. If Trump's listening to his lawyers at all, he won't try it.

I'm actually more worried about Korea. Trump is the kind of guy who might think he can neutralize Mueller by starting a war as a distraction. Legal processes don't work that way, but Trump may not understand that.
