Burst Into Flame

I dreamed that I lived in a big-ass, old, Gothic church. It was engulfed in flames though. We’re talkin’ serious conflagration. I was able to snag a few belongings and get to the big-ass, old, Gothic church next door – this’d be my new home. As I mournfully gazed out at my first burning home, this second one sparked up. An uncontrollable blaze came into full bloom.

I stood outside and watched my homes, these holy places, consumed.
A white Wisconsin police officer repeatedly punched a 17-year-old Black teenager in the face, while a mall security officer restrained the teenager, according to cellphone video filmed by a bystander.

Last week, another video showed a white police officer in Warsaw, North Carolina violently choking and slamming a 22-year-old Black man to the ground outside of a Waffle House. The man had taken his sister to her prom earlier in the evening...

Also this week, there were reports that white people called the police to deal with three Black women checking out of an Airbnb in California, two Black men having a barbecue at a park in California, and a Black Yale graduate student who was napping in her dorm’s common room.
Has America always been like this – I mean, in modern, 21st century times? Has it always been a crime to exist while black or has the Tangerine Shitstain, in addition to bringing back Nazis, resuscitated Jim Crow?

And while we're on the Existing While Not White thing – just FYI and contrary to what the White House is spewing, immigrants show up with more than just a suitcase in hand.
John Kelly went on an anti-immigrant rant during an interview with NPR, complaining that undocumented immigrants are “overwhelmingly rural,” can’t assimilate, and are uneducated—basically the same exact stereotypes his Irish and Italian ancestors probably faced when they came to the U.S. (source)
Kelly’s immigrant ancestors – how well did they assimilate? Were they doctors and engineers or otherwise Richie Rich? Ah no. His immigrant ancestors made their bones as laborers, wagon drivers and fruit peddlers.

My Italian immigrant ancestors? Angelina was a seamstress. Donato was a bricklayer. And, just like Kelly’s, my Gioia del Colle grandparents never learned English. And yet, here I am – educated, speaking (if not hearing) English and not a drag on society. Not sure as much can be said of Kelly.

The current Republican administration has been ripping parents away from their children. That perniciously poisonous Keebler Elf announced, just last week, that they’re now looking to tear children away from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border to, ya know, discourage folks from coming. This, by the by, is hostage taking. It’s state sanctified terrorism – a trick the Orange Menace and his team undoubtedly picked up from their buddy Putin.

Just a heads up – the vast majority of people who came to this country in the 19th  and 20th centuries weren’t moving here because they got bored with their Kensington or Sandy Cove manor homes and, ya know, had a hankering for a different view. Nope, this was the land of opportunity. It can be, even now, but first we've got to vote out the white supremacist vermin.

Our house, our home is burning. Set aflame by venomously malicious, barbarously xenophobic, worm-fucking rabid arsonists.
