Wanktastic Wednesday

We had a primary here yesterday. I rilly, truly wanted Bob Massie to be the Democratic challenger to Republican Governor Charlie I’m-not-one-of-those-evil-ones…REALLY Baker but it’s not to be. Jay Gonzalez won with nearly 65% of the votes cast.

I will now happily vote for Mr. Gonzalez in November. Amongst other lovely positions, he supports the Fair Share Tax:

which would ask people who make over $1 million a year to pay more in income taxes to fund investments in transportation and education. The tax would generate an additional $2 billion per year. (source)

Might just offset some of the heinousosity caused by Baker’s Republican Party tax gift to the wealthy. Baker being a millionaire himself, part of the Richie Rich Club, is, naturally opposed to the Fair Share Tax.

Baker won his challenge from Scott Gay-Nazis-did-the-Holocaust Lively with a paltry 64.1% of the vote. Know what this means? Here in relatively sane Massachusetts, 35.9% of voting Republicans are utterly, unconditionally batshit crackers. There are, at least, 86,672 Massachusetts residents who are seriously off their meds.

Meanwhile the confirmation hearings for Lickspittle Kavenaugh – the asswipe who has argued that the President is above the law have begun. Just FYI Brett dear, the Constitution covers this handily. The Prez is NOT above the law despite your wanktastic fever dreams. You remember the Constitution, don't you? Mighta had to look at it once or twice when you were in law school, eh?

Senator Jeff Merkley of Oregon sez,

“A President under investigation should never be allowed to appoint a Justice to the Supreme Court,” (source)

Cory Booker, who totally rocks my world, pointed out that:

"The president pulled the one person that has already spoken vastly about a president’s ability to be prosecuted, about a president's ability to dismiss or end an investigation," (source)

"It's clearer than ever that Judge Kavanaugh will not be an independent check on this president, " (source)

Senator Tom Udall tells us that

“The president pulled Judge Kavanaugh’s name from a pre-approved list concocted by radical, far-right special interests that are committed to undermining a woman’s right to choose, health care protections, safeguards for workers and seniors, LGBTQ rights, and a host of other critical public protections that touch the lives of every New Mexican and every American,” (source)

Yup, no surprise there. The American Christianist Taliban won’t be happy until we’ve time travelled back to 1950 when white men ruled, women and people of color knew their very low place and gays resided in tiny closets. Tangerine Fat Nixon and the rest of the Republicans exist as their means to this end.
