Things I’ve learned this week:

The Thucydides Trap is a theory, put forward by Harvard political scientist Graham Allison, that when a rising power threatens to replace an existing power, the conflict between the two tends to spark a war. (source)

Gee, this came up during Pedo’s rather embarrassing trip to China. The US was an existing power until the man who could fuck up a free lunch before it was even ordered got elected not once but twice. The fact that Dimbulb Donnie exists will always be a humanitarian humiliation.

The Pentagon has quietly dismantled a program it is legally required to operate to prevent and respond to civilian deaths in US military operations, according to its internal watchdog. (source)

Interesting how this comes about so soon after Pissdrunk Pete the Secretary of War Crimes ordered the missile strike on the little girls school in Iran which killed 175, mostly children. Huh.

Reported by Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) – on May 12, Israeli forces attacked paramedics with a drone strike in Lebanon, killing two out of three. Paramedics, ffs. Emergency health care workers who are out there saving lives, easing pain and suffering!

The May 12 incident is part of an alarming pattern. Over recent weeks, MSF teams in Lebanon have been witnessing the consequences of airstrikes, drone strikes, and artillery fire, which are damaging hospitals, ambulances, and medical equipment, and killing or injuring civilians, health workers, and first responders. Lebanese health authorities, media, and other humanitarian organizations have also reported this kind of violence, including repeated attacks while paramedics are rescuing people.

According to the World Health Organization, there were 161 attacks against health care recorded between March 2 and May 12, resulting in 110 deaths and 252 injuries. This includes 15 attacks resulting in 12 deaths and 21 injuries that occurred after the start of the ceasefire on April 17, which has not led to a cessation of hostilities and has not allowed displaced populations to return home or people stranded in heavily targeted areas to seek safety. Thanks to Pedo’s Supreme Court of Sycophants, Jim Crow is back. Maybe not in full…YET…but it won’t be long. They’ve gutted the Voting Rights Act which has triggered a run on Southern states redistricting to eliminate majority-Black districts. The courts aren’t stopping white Republican officials from gerrymandering the fuck out of their states but, Bast forbid, actual not-rich citizens VOTE on a new congressional map. If it doesn’t favor Pedo’s party of cheats, warmongers, and abusers *GASP* it MUST be illegal according to the black robed Klan!

Giant manta rays are an endangered species. The barely, (not so’s you’d really notice), civilized state of Florida, actually allows any old asshole to capture and kidnap them out of the ocean – their goddamn home. Still, Florida politicians are patting themselves on the back for making a slight tweak to tighten policies as to where and when the giant mantas can be stolen. This only after a video went viral of a captured ray in severe distress.
