Misty Morning Hop

The sun DOES, honestly, show up in Vermont but this
heavy moning mist is positively magically entrancing,
We met the most amazing couple while in Vermont – Cindy and Giovanni’s friends Mark and Mary. They live WAY far off the beaten track – on the side of a hill, miles and miles down a dirt road, far away from humanity. They built their own very creative, forward thinking, gorgeous house together BY HAND (there are kits for this – like model airplanes only big and you can live in ‘em!). They grow most of their own food (just like C&G!). Mark plays a gorgeous baby grand piano and Mary’s a weaver.

Wow. Just motherfucnig WOW!

Ten’s an old Oregon logger and he’s built houses too. He and Mark got to get their geek on, talikng wood and building methods.

Also, while having perfectly functional ears, Mary knows ASL. Ya know what this meant? While in a group, with so many different folk (4) talking, I did NOT feel left out. Between Mary signing to me and everyone else speaking into their tinyphone speech to text apps, I was able to, for the most part, keep up. HOW bloody cool is that! (hint: VERY!)

Home grown crudité!
I keep saying/thinking I could SO live here BUT could I honestly live so far away from the ocean? Oh yeah and MGH too – the hospital gets kinda lonely if I don’t show up for regular visits. Plus, I’d have to uproot Jen and Oni – can’t live without them ya know.

Rural Vermont's exerting one hell of a tractor beam though.

We came home with one of Mary’s big beautiful eggplants and plums from Cindy and Giovanni’s trees. Now that I think on it, here in our very own Valhalla, we’ll soon have Jen and Oni’s tomatoes and, maybe next year, TAB and Rocco will begin putting out cherries.
