Rain

Yesterday it rained which, of course, put the kibosh on a walk along the seawall (I melt in the rain, like all evil witches…duh!).

It occurred to me that we could motor down to the mall for a walk amongst the various shut shops but, apart from Target, which sells groceries, the joint closed at 7PM on Wednesday. They’ll potentially re-open in April.

What’s a recovering brain surgery babe to do, dammit? Loads of my PT calisthenics and I started a new painting ON canvas (putting down the underpainting is, for me, a real physical workout).

I’ve decided, in this obscenely stressful stay-at-home crazy virus time, aided and abetted by this criminally incompetent badministration, I need to do shit that brings me peace and joy-joy. Working on canvas versus paper does that. Yes, I’ll continue pushing myself to explore new, less pricey and space hogging creative avenues BUT now’s a time for solace and shit. Ya know?

This is the underpainting for my
 self-portrait as Medusa.
I’m thinking the snake hair
will be done as silvery, twisted
fork tines.
Doodling helps calm the old bean too. As I lay on the living room floor doing leg lifts, I realized that the ceiling was ALL white and just screaming for some Sistine Chapel action. I'll prolly paint clouds in a beautiful cerulean sky or the stars twinkling in the great, dark blue yonder.

Around here, one of the first grocery stores to announce old people hours was Market Basket. Ten and I took a trip down to the closest one, a 30 minute drive. We found it jam-packed and not just with antiques like ourselves. I’d be all pissy about that BUT all those under 60 types must have their reasons. Maybe some are immunocompromised like meself. Possibly some are caregivers shopping for bedridden olds. And, conceivably, a few are just scared and figured shopping during relic hours was the safest bet.

Whatevs.

The only way through this is to be as careful as we each can be and to remember that we are ALL related. We’re humans. We gotta break out the BIGtime empathy. Kindness is key, dig? Also too, humor.

Credo, the progressive cell phone company, the carrier with a conscience, just emailed some cool info. It’s a column – 5 great apps to help you manage stress and anxiety.

Who doesn’t need an assist on the stress front now? Maybe not Princess Ivanka whose only concerns are her looks and having her staff Tweet out old hat, cutesy mother tips from her Ivory tower.

Here in the world of the NOT criminal or criminally stupid NOT billionaires, the crocuses are coming up AND there are wee, baby buds on the trees.

Spring and a bit of hope have sprung.
