The Numbers

Just yesterday, there were 1,165 new cases of Trump Plague here in Massachusetts. A big number, sure BUT we’re finally beginning to ride the downward slope of the curve.

Wyoming – 13

Of these states, five are INCREASING –Virginia, Arkansas, South Dakota, Montana and Maine.

In 22 states the numbers are, more or less, THE SAME – not increasing BUT not DECREASING either.

In 26 states/territories the number of new cases and deaths are decreasing IF ONLY SLIGHTLY.

This New York Times column puts the numbers in a more clear perspective.
"The nature of disease transmission demands that public officials be mindful of how outbreaks are progressing in certain areas, not just how the state looks over all. Plans to reopen premised on a steady number of cases statewide ignore the mini-epidemics keeping the numbers from dropping sharply. Monitoring epidemics on a local level are key to tailoring reopening plans that won’t result in the virus spreading just as fast as in early April. "
In the U.S. alone there have been AT LEAST 1.3 million cases of the Trump Plague. We all know that’s a totally lowball figure since we aren’t exactly going all voraciously big on the test front (no matter what Prez Liposuction Dumpster Fire, Jar-Jar and the Republi/Fascist sycophants say).

As of May 11, the US has performed an average of 28.24 tests per 1,000 people, according to researchers from Oxford University.
"The independent data aggregation site Worldometer said the US had the highest raw number of tests completed as of May 12. But at the same time, the site's data showed, more than 30 countries were ranked higher than the US in per capita testing.

As of April 26, the US ranked 22nd in the number of tests performed per capita, according to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

FactCheck.org, a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center at Trump's alma mater, the University of Pennsylvania, said Trump's April claim about the US testing more than "every country combined" was "way off." (

WE’RE 22nd (in testing) – USA, USA, USA! rah, rah, fucking rah.

So far there are almost  85,000 Americans dead due to Trumpublican greed and incompetence. Of the more than 140 countries for which data is available, the U.S. figure for deaths per 100,000 people as of May 11 was the 11th highest.

Think on that for a mo – only ten other countries on the entire goddamn planet (there are 195 total) have a higher croak rate than us. But sure, let's all doff our masks and head out to a nice crowded pub for a few pints of death.

YOLO and shit!
