Politics is getting stupid again. I suppose it never stopped being stupid.
Ted Cruz, America’s most shockingly dimbulbed (despite a Harvard education) senator, sent a letter to President Biden urging hime to approve Governor Party-before-Country Abbott’s help request,
Biden did because, unlike his predecessor, he’s a good human being, not a soulless, greedheaded narcissistic grifter.
Texas, by the by, isn’t part of the National Grid. Why? To avoid federal regulation of course. This is, after all, the state which so often claims it wants to secede.
Also despite all the stale, rotted baloney being thrown around about Texas’s energy belly flop, renewable energy doesn’t deserve the bulk of the blame.
But while the output from all sources of electricity plunged in Texas, frozen instruments at coal, nuclear and natural gas power plants, coupled with a limited supply of natural gas, were the main cause of the rolling blackouts, Dan Woodfin, a senior director for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, told Bloomberg News on Tuesday. (ERCOT is the state’s main grid operator.)
Energy analysts and electricity experts said a complete failure to plan for extreme weather scenarios caused the kind of cascading disaster that risks becoming more common as climate chaos increases pressure on human systems.
Ironically, wind energy represented one bright spot for grid operators as the resource, which tends to ebb in the winter months, actually surpassed daily production forecasts over the past weekend. (source)
Will Toady Ted, the failed insult thrower, change his tiny mind about climate change or renewable energy? Doubt it. He’s not the brightest bulb in the pack.
A bright spot in the sea of madness, Rep. Bennie Thompson, (D-Miss.) the NAACP is suing 45, his pet rabid dachshund Giuliani, the violently faithful, delusional and dangerous Proud Boys and Oath Keepers for inciting the January sixth riot.
487,855 Americans have now died from the Trump “Hoax.” While the case and death counts are, generally, trending downward in most states, it’s still high – this ain’t goin’ away anytime soon. This also means that when I have my next craniotomy (probably next month but possibly, depending on the results of Sunday’s MRI, next week) I’ll be alone at MGH. No visitors. Not exactly a fun prospect.
That and I fell coming down the stairs this morning. Not all the way down, mind you. Just onto my knees (off the bottom step) but I couldn’t get back up. Yes, I’ve become an annoying teevee commercial – “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” Luckily Ten was here to save the day. Yeah, I'm SO proud of myself.
I need to get in that OR NOW!!!
