Mystery

This morning, for some odd reason, I woke with Stephen King on my mind. Possibly because it’s nice to know that there’s a famous Florida resident who comes out strongly against the state’s vile, scum-sucking, pile of weasel dung governor. King’s a wildly, across the boards popular celeb. He’s a writer for the masses. Maybe his words actually get past the gaslighting of the right-wing grift machines.

King no longer lives, full time, in his famously creepy Victorian with a hint of gothic Bangor, Maine mansion or the large guest house in back but he still spends summers in Maine.

The mansion will be turned into an archive, a museum of sorts, of his work and the guest house will become a writer’s retreat. This will be a tremendous boost to Bangor’s economy.

Here’s the thing that stuns me—why, if you’ve the choice and he surely does, spend any time at all in Florida. Why? Oh yeah, it’s warm and beautiful. Still, politically, like Texas, it’s a hell hole.
DeSantis policies are right-wing 'the individual rules and to hell with what happens' policies. They are turning a beautiful state into a big ICU ward where even healthy people can barely breathe," he tweeted.

Florida now accounts for a fifth of all new cases in the United States, with a majority of the illnesses caused by the delta variant of the virus.

In one day alone, in late July, Florida reported 21,683 new cases of COVID (AKA the DeathSantis disease) and that’s just the reported cases.

Aside from the political stuff dunno why he comes to mind. I’ve only read one, possibly two of his books. Though his writing is fab, I’m generally not into horror. Yes, this despite my love for the Alien and Terminator series. Nobody told me I had to be cross-oeuvre consistent.
