Motion

I haven’t exercised much in a couple weeks—the weather’s been lousy, the news is relentlessly horrific and, just generally, I’ve been feeling low. I was down so didn’t feel like doing even the least of my rehab exercises (for balance OR strength). This naturally meant that I succumbed to the overwhelming force of Newton's first law of motion. Ya know,
An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force
Why get up (and, possibly, fall over) when I can sit in this nice comfy chair reading, worrying and stewing?

This morning was clear and not heinously cold (31ยบ also not windy!) plus my lack-of-exercise guilt had boiled over into extreme self-disgust. Jen took me out for a half mile walk before the sun rose above the Harbor Islands. That helped, both physically and emotionally. In order to keep from sinking back into an abyss of antipathy (with myself and toward other, unevolved humans—AKA Republi/Fascists), I’ve got to remain active today. Avoiding the news, for the day, can only help. Do I really need to know the latest imbecility spewed by the right wing idiocy wank-brigade? No, I do not—the clowns will vomit up metric tons of jejune asininities whether I’m reading or not.

If I scroll today it’ll be art, authors and teevee sites

An object/cat at rest
I found this brilliant animated short on Colossal. It’s the vid for a band called Moomin’s song For Willow.   Reminds me of Bruno Bozzetto’s Allegro Non Troppo (Ravel’s Bolero), the Beatle’s Yellow Submarine. Though I can’t hear the music, the images, the hippy-trippy animation perks me right up.

Book-wise, I’m fresh out. I have a Louise Penny, a Kate Racculia and a Mary Robinette Kowal on hold but not one of them will be on deck for weeks. WHY don’t any of my favorite authors have something out and available at the library NOW! …slackers... whine/snivel

I’m having the same issue with teevee shows. We’ve just finished the latest season of Star Trek: Discovery and we’re about to polish off Wednesday. The next (fifth) Discovery season MAY be available this summer and it’s unknown whether Wednesday will be renewed at all. Merde!

In my effort to stay in physical and emotional motion today, I’ll be hunting new books and teevee series, doodling and mebbe I’ll begin rereading all of Kurt Vonnegut’s books. I can read and elliptical at the same time, right? RIGHT!?!
