President Cake |
Jimmy Carter was awarded the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize for work to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development.
Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize for what the Norwegian Nobel Committee called “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.”Joe Biden’s only been president for two years but he and Kamala Harris have already accomplished so damn much. (Go to the links and check out all the good they've done so far)
How will I honor these brilliant examples of humanity? I’ll take a nice long (for me) walk later this morning. I’ll resist my nasty tendency to doomscroll. I’ll continue to badger Jen into making more Irish Soda Bread (my favorite) and incessantly bug Ten so’s he makes Jen and I his special veggie pizza for teatime today. (teatime—we’re watching the new seasons of Picard and Carnival Row—YEA!)
By the way, I asked Jen for the recipe for her Irish Soda Bread (NOT so I could make it myself, fuck no. I wanted to go out and buy the ingredients. Isn’t it more than enough that she creates this gustatory miracle for me?). This kitchen witch knows me well.
Her reply:
Half cup unicorn whiskersYeah…no. I don’t have a clue as to where I can pick up unicorn whiskers let alone leprechaun boogies (ewww). Also, the Guinness sold here in the U.S. is nowhere near as good (it’s way too heavy) as what’s on tap at Róisín Dubh in Galway or The Royal Dick in Edinburgh.
1 tablespoon finely chopped four leaf clovers
Half keg of Guinness
1 cup of leprechaun boogie
Back to presidents for a sec—yes, I voted for Bill Clinton, twice, but he wasn't one of my faves. While very good at his job, I felt he leaned too far to the conservative end of things.
So, that’s my Presidents’ Day—hope yours is filled with fun, chill shit as well.
