Was a Sunny Day

Woke from a dream where I was in Berlin visiting my cousin Della and her awesome font crafting husband Martin. We were gallery hopping around Kreuzberg and Neukölln, stopping in for drinks and snacks here and there.

The dream’s finale was me exploring a gorgeous Romanesque Revival building (interior-wise, think The Bradbury from Bladerunner) in the Friedrichshain neighborhood. I was scoping out a potential new crib. The place was a real fixer-upper but fabulous. Yup, in sleepy-time land I was moving to Berlin—one of my goals when I was in my 20s (ya know, back in medieval days when Talking Heads were new and mobile phones were a sci-fi concept).

Meanwhile, awake and in Valhalla, we’re finally getting some spring weather. The menfolk washed the cars yesterday, Jen’s planting. Me? I’m taking walks along the seawall (nothing new but certainly less onerous than walking in chill wind and rain) and reading, reading, reading.

I recently finished Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb which a New York Times reviewer called an irresistibly candid and addicting memoir about psychotherapeutic practice as experienced by both the clinician and the patient. I highly recommend.

Currently reading Reincarnation Blues by Michael Poore.
What if you had lived almost 10,000 lives, and then learned you had just five more to get it right?
So far, so fun.

Next up is Margaret Atwood’s newest short story collection, Old Babes in the Woods.

Today’s high will be in the low 70s—mega awesome! I might even get out for a second walk. What about our fearless warrior cat, Cake? He’s totally digging the sunshine and open windows. Such a good boy.
