Murder State

Big weekend in Texas. The place seriously needs to get a new, more accurate state motto (or “moto” as they spell it). Instead of Friendship (which would be laughable if not for all the blood that’s been shed) or Remember the Alamo it should be Texas—The Murder State.
Eight killed outside Brownsville migrant shelter after car crashes into pedestrians

An SUV traveling at a high rate of speed plowed into the middle of the group, knocking people far back into the grass and a driveway.

The Texas Tribune article says that it’s unclear what led to the crash. Sure, totally unclear. My only question on this little massacre—did the shitstain who did this forget his gun at home?

At a mall in Allen:

Authorities are looking into whether the gunman who killed eight people at a suburban Dallas outdoor mall showed an interest in white supremacist and neo-Nazi views… (source)

Gee, one would think that the Right Wing Death Squad patch, proudly displayed on his chest, would be a dead giveaway. No?

Remember the dude who murdered five of his neighbors because they asked him to stop shooting off his AR-15? That was just nine days ago.
The arrest of Francisco Oropesa, 38, in the city of Cut and Shoot, Texas, marked the end of a massive manhunt that was in its fourth day Tuesday. (source)
Texas Governor Greg Abbott is supposedly all about addressing the root cause of gun violence—mental health issues. And yet, in April of last year, skinny weeks before the Uvalde massacre, he slashed $211 million from the department that oversees mental health programs and loosened Texas’ already debauched gun laws.

A gun rights groups hailed the state’s recent laws to loosen gun restrictions, including a measure passed last year authorizing residents to carry handguns without licenses or training. (source

Texas Senator Ted Cruz has received donations of $442,333 from gun rights assholes so, naturally, he has only thoughts and prayers to offer his constituency.

Senator John Cornyn pocketed $78,945 from the NRA so don’t count on him to give a shit about Texans dying violently.

By the by, Abbott defensively remarked that gun violence was an issue in both Red states and Blue states, claiming that the most victims of gun violence can be found in California. To which California Governor Gavin Newsom responded “[Gov. Abbott] conveniently leaves out the fact that Texas’ gun death rate is 73% higher than CA’.”

Something else Governor Abbott’s bad at—simple math.

If you’re thinking of states to visit or move to, cross Texas off your list…unless you have a death wish.
