No Kings 2.0

It’ll be around 60º and mostly here in Boston on Saturday. A good day to protest, amirite? The main Massachusetts No Kings protest will be on Boston Common from 12-3 p.m. but there will be hundreds of other rallies going on throughout the state. Plug in your zip code or address at the No Kings Find Event page for the protest closest to you.

The last No Kings protest in June drew several million people across more than 2,000 locations. This time, more than 2,500 cities and towns nationwide are hosting protests. (source

Safety and Prep Tips:

– This guide is not specifically geared to tomorrow’s demonstrations but contains a LOT of useful info and tips.

"No Kings" protest: What to know about your rights, safely protesting – This concise bullet pointed list by attorney Naomi Zikmund-Fisher, is very good. She’s a legal observer and board member of the Detroit and Michigan National Lawyers Guild chapter.

  • Go to your No Kings demonstration with a friend.
  • Check the weather forecast before you leave home. Dress in layers.

Jesse Duquette

IF you bring your phone (and I know everyone probably will), keep it turned off or in airplane mode. Have a faraday bag? Use it. Disable all of your phone’s high tech features (face recognition, fingerprint, etc.)

  • Wear comfortable, protective shoes!
  • Be aware of what’s happening around you.
  • Do NOT engage with MAGAts and other random chaos agents, tempting though it may be. They're just looking for a fight. They'll play victim the minute the cops show up and they'll be believed.
  • Police sometimes use escalation tactics – move away. Avoid getting boxed in against walls, buildings, or barricades.
  • Keep your arms free at your sides rather than pinned to your chest. Use a wide-spread stance to maintain your balance.

Stay calm. Breathe deep.

In unity, there will also be No Kings (or No Tyrants or No Dictators) protests held in São Paulo, Brazil; Saipan – capital of the Northern Mariana Islands; Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa, Canada; Paris, Nice and Lyons, France; London and Bristol in the United Kingdom; Rome, Turin and Milan, Italy; Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico;  Medellin, Colombia; Grenada, Spain; Stockholm, Sweden; Zurich, Switzerland, and Gibraltar.
