Ruka

Last night I dreamed a word. It was in the context of me roller skating around the Back Bay with an old friend.

Ruka

It was flashing on and off on a billboard at the corner of Boylston and Dalton Streets.

Having no clue as to what the word meant, and actually remembering it once awake, I fired up the Google.

Ruka is (from the Urban Dictionary):

1) A girl in a gang

2) A girl or guy's number one love, even if the girl or guy has multiple relations or relationships
Michelle is my ruka even if I have other girls she's always going to be my number one girl.

3) Japanese name meaning bright blue flower.
written with the characters for "lapis lazuli" (ru) and "flower" (ka)
I named my daughter Ruka because of her blue eyes

4) A Croatian drinking game,
You need:
  • 6+ people
  • a coin
  • a 40-Pounder (40oz of hard liquor)
  • shot glass for each player
Go to the link and scroll to the bottom if you’d like to see the rules and regs for this most intellectually challenging pastime.

Ruka is also a ski resort in Lapland.

It's the lounge at the Ramee Grand in Bahrain.

Ruka Nogi (乃木 流架) is a minor-ish player from the Gakuen Alice anime series
Mikan and Hotaru are best friends! (Well, according to Mikan, anyway. Hotaru doesn't seem to care.) Then one day, Hotaru is escorted away in a fancy black car, apparently scouted by a school in Tokyo called "Alice Academy." Crushed at the loss of her favorite pal, Mikan scurries after her, determined to enroll, too! But Alice Academy is a mysterious place. Can Mikan tough it out in a school where explosions, superpowers, giant baby chicks and axe-wielding teddy bears are the norm? Though it's not as if she has a choice, because once students enter Alice Academy, there is no escape!
Ruka is a boutique in Philly.
Treasures range from gem stone jewels and malas, to hand-spun silk scarves, from tree free paper items, to up-cycled yoga mat and computer bags, from brilliant vintage embroidered wall hangings to whimsical block printed spreads, from mediation chimes to bronze Buddha statues, and much more!
And the owner, Cynthia Raimondo, is a Mehandi/henna tattoo artist as well.

Back in my dream — there were other bits but Ruka was an outlier, not related to the rest of the action. Mostly this chimera was about rollerskating around Back Bay and here at home, working in an old print shop that was in the process of transforming into an art gallery and trees.

So many tall, broad leafed green babes.
