Zufälligkeit and more of it

My interior views are lovely BUT I need to get outside some more!
I woke ridiculously early this morning – two damn thirty. Coco was thrilled, of course.

Interestingly, I did NOT run through all my faults, get a full steaming head of guilt and then heatedly ruminate over what I should have said to those self-obsessed, asswipian fools who did me dirt right after TAB took the last train to the coast. This is my VERY unfortunate zero dark thirty mindset. Yeah, I’m working on that.

Hey, I didn’t even have a you’ll-never-get-back-to-slumberland Trump Crime Cartel Rage-a-thon.

Instead, I did some design/layout work. YES, I’m back to work – YEA! I can’t spend too long on the keyboard lest I aggravate the monsters who enjoy nothing more than chewing on my back (FYI—PAINFUL).

After that, I started writing, in my head, a fan girl/PUH-lease consider running for President letter to Tammy Duckworth. As I noted on Tuesday the Senator from Illinois has it ALL going on. Later today, after giving my poor, overtaxed spine a rest, I WILL write and send the letter. She’s one of my heroes.

My exciting mid day view from bed
And then I began scheming and researching a possible, and at this point fantastical, spring vaca for me and Ten. At first I was thinking Big Sur or Half Moon Bay BUT I imagine, in the 40+ years (EEP!) since I was last there, they’ve become heinously, overpriced, glitzy tourist booby traps not unlike Sedona, Arizona. Also too, we’d need to fly into San Francisco and rent a car ($$$) OR drive down from Bend (9 and 10 hours. NO THANK YOU!)

So, I’ve begun looking into southern coastal Oregon destinations. Depoe Bay, Gold Beach and Coos Bay all look interesting. OR we can splurge, fly into Oakland, rent the damn car and drive the five hours up to the Redwood National Forest. That’d be AWESOME+.

My most favorite thing that I brought back from Oregon – a big chunk of lava
By the by, Ten will be here on December 23rd through January 2nd. SQUEEEEEEEEEEE, motherfucking, SQUEEEEEEEEEEE. We have some plans already (visiting the Harvard and MIT museums) but I’m not sure what else is on tap. An overnight in the Berkshires and/or the Green Mountains? A visit to the Maderer ancestral home (Hoosick Falls) and Helen? Laying in bed, reading, writing, relaxing and enjoying each other’s company? (yup, there’ll be a lot of that :-) We chill very well together :-)

As always, suggestions for this coast and that (without shit-tons of driving involved) are welcome!

Lastly, this morning’s dawn clouds were interesting and stunning so, for the first time since surgery, camera in hand, I made a dash (OK, a wobbly fast walk) down to the seawall. After the couple of bad days I’ve just  had, I wasn’t sure I’d make it BUT I did. When I began feeling weak (i.e. more weak) I began talking to myself
“you can do this”
“you’re doing fine“
         and
“we’re almost there”
Plus a lot more of that “you can do this” and “you’ve got this” stuff. And then, finally, climbing the steps up to my front door:
“HUZZAH, YOU DID IT!”
Yeah, I had some back pain afterward but Jen came over and dosed me up. I’m fine now but that MAY have been my big excitement for the day. Let’s not count on that though. It’s a sunny day and another walk is surely calling my name.

  1. That's pretty remarkable, being back to work already. Don't push yourself too hard. :-)

    1. Thank you. Given that I work from home and just part time, I think I'll be ok. But yes, I'm going slow.
