That was yesterday…sort of. Yes I did a few rehab exercises, spent time on the elliptical, walked around the house (Jen and Oni’s house too!) with my walker BUT no brace (HUZZAH, progress!). So, that was all lovely and shit but still, I felt as though I’d not done a thing. It’s much too snowy and icy out for seawall excursions and has been for a week now.
Reading in my cozy chair, draped in a warm, colorful blanket with Coco on my lap is absolutely wonderful. It’s soothing, ultra calming BUT every day for weeks on end?
I gotta get up and out and not just to MGH either. I’m feeling wicked antsy. What to do, what to do?
Now that the end of winter is approaching (spring equinox—March 20th!) I’m thinking day trips to start.
- A Salem day with stops at the Peabody Essex Museum, Salem Witch Village, the House of Seven Gables and a late lunch at Flying Saucer Pizza Company.
- We could head out to Concord for breakfast at Haute Coffee, a visit to the town's awesome public library and a walk around Walden Pond (can I do that with a walker or will this trip need to wait until I’ve graduated to a cane).
- Maybe an overnight jaunt to Provincetown? We'd hit all the galleries, the three independent bookstores (three—here in Quincy, a MUCH larger burg, we don't even have one!) and Napi's for a snack.
All three ideas involve more walking than I'm used to (understatement alert)—maybe way more than I'll be able to manage in just a couple of months. On top of that, adventures, even day trips, depend on what's happening here in Plague World.
*sigh*
I can still dream, plan and see where I'm at by the beginning of April. Who knows? Plans can always be adjusted. After I'm able to successfully navigate a few short excursions, I'm on to greater travel—Nova Scotia! Newfoundland! Nunavet! and, of course, Iceland.
Gotta find and renew my damn passport too. *grumble, grumble*
