I’d like to go to Madagascar. Why? The Avenue of the Baobabs. Check out the pics at Ritebook — Natural Wonders and Hidden Places.
Realistically, it feels unlikely that I’ll get there but I can dream. I’d also like to stand in a redwood forest. I’d lay down under the trees, take pics, nap and feel safe.
The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.

This morning, Ten and I are headed into Boston for a few days. I have multiple tests and office visits on top of my protoning this week. Naturally, all of the appointments are hours and hours apart. Instead of sitting around MGH all day OR driving back and forth from Valhalla, we managed to find a hotel that won’t utterly bankrupt us.
The joint’s, sadly, not in walking distance of the hospital but, at least, the drive won’t be anywhere near as long, annoying and spine jarringly bumpy. We’ll be in East Cambridge—the neighborhood that Jen, TAB, Oni and I once called home. Unfortunately, we won't be close enough (for me and my still weak wandering chops) to take advantage of the cool bookshops and all those hip restaurants that’ve moved in since we moved out.
If strolling about was an easy thing for me, Ten and I could, between hospitals visits, explore Harvard and Central Squares. We could go to the Harvard Bookstore and the Busch-Reisinger and Fogg Museums. Hells bells, we could walk from MGH to Boston’s Public Garden where I could snap pics of all the tulips.
This won’t be a sightseeing visit but there will be other opportunities down the line. It won't be too much longer before I can walk (with my trusty rollator) a full mile.
We’ll be fine. Meanwhile, Jen and Oni will hold down the fort here in Valhalla. They’ll make sure all our visitor cats are fed and the tide comes back in afternoon as it’s promised.
