Here's some free advice for anyone thinking of visiting the U.S.—don’t. It’s not safe here. Obvs.

If you’ve just GOT to holiday here, consider sticking to Massachusetts, Hawaii, New York, New Jersey and California. These are the five states with the lowest gun and COVID death rates.

The top five states to TOTALLY avoid?
Mississippi—death by guns in 2020 was 20.5 per 100,000. By COVID? 262.3 per 100,000
Louisiana—death by guns in 2020 was 19.9 per 100,000. By COVID? 228.2 per 100,000
Missouri—death by guns in 2020 was 14 per 100,000. By COVID? 149.2 per 100,000
Alabama—death by guns in 2020 was 14.2 per 100,000. By COVID? 256.6 per 100,000
Texas—death by guns in 2020 was 7.6 per 100,000. By COVID? 218.1 per 100,000

I expect, in the two years since these stats were collected, Texas is much closer to the top of the death rate index.

Just after last night’s speech by President Biden on this country’s plague of gun violence, there was a mass murder outside of a church in Ames, Iowa. Additionally, a family of five was murdered in Texas.

Will the imbecilic, pandering, on-the-NRA-payroll Fascists find a way to blame this on doors (the Iowa murders happened in a church parking lot, you oily cretinous fuckers), mental health (the fascists are suddenly all concerned as though this is a brandy new issue) and, of course, lack of christian prayer in schools.
