Coupla Things

Court Watch has posted a link to the 32 lawsuits that have been filed regarding the evil orange hemorrhoid’s executive orders. That's SO FAR. The list was last updated yesterday at 2:56 PM.

What is Court Watch?
Court Watch is a news site covering all the most interesting federal court filings, from search warrants, indictments, to everything in between. The goal is to report on overlooked court records and give readers direct access to primary source documents.

A bit about Court Watch. We have a weird knack for finding the unfindable in the byzantine federal court records system. Our reporting has been the basis of hundreds of national and local media outlets’ stories. We have ongoing joint reporting collaborations with 404 Media, Rolling Stone Magazine, Forbes, and Lawfare. Yes, we need a fuckton more than just lawsuits but, this is something—it's a start.

I just finished The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley, (this means that I did NOT doomscroll all day yesterday. Yea me!). While I found some of her artful analogies and metaphors unclear to the point of being incomprehensible, the story itself was captivating. The main character was humanly flawed. She wasn’t overly self aware or evolved; not a hero or a villain—kind of a mess really. Aren’t we all though.

My only other complaint is that I would have liked to read more about her relationship with her Cambodian mother who had survived Pol Pot’s brutal dictatorship. I would have liked to read more about her time traveler, Graham Gore, who was an actual real-life person. Gore was a polar explorer who was a part of the ill-fated Franklin expedition to discover the Northwest Passage. None survived.

I’m not a fan of historical fiction but MAYBE I can find well written (i.e., not dry and fussily academic) telling of the Arctic explorations. As for Pol Pot’s genocide of his own damned countrymen, there doesn’t seem to be a shortage of books to explore.

First a little humor perhaps with The Worst Gig: From Psycho Fans to Stage Riots, Famous Musicians Tell All by Jon Niccum.

Everything that has ever been could have been prevented, and none of it was. The only thing you can mend is the future.
