Gimme the Straight Dope

I'm stunned when otherwise intelligent seeming folk turn out to be Republicans.

You may be thinking Oh Donna, that’s so harsh and judgmental BUT hear me out please.

Financial reasons are pointed to. The "right" is often thought of as being more fiscally smart.

I went to Forbes, the biz mag, for info and found this great column by Adam Hartung. He gives a review of Bob Deitrick and Lew Goldfarbs book Bulls, Bears and the Ballot Box.
Their heavily researched, and footnoted, text brings forth some serious inconsistency between the common viewpoint of America’s dominant parties, and the reality of how America has performed since the start of the Great Depression.
~~snip~~
The authors looked at a range of economic metrics including inflation, unemployment, corporate profit growth, stock market performance, household income growth, economy (GDP) growth, months in recession and others.  To their surprise (I had the opportunity to interview Mr. Goldfarb) they discovered that laissez faire policies had far less benefits than expected, and in fact produced almost universal negative economic outcomes for the nation!
~~some examples~~
1) Personal disposable income has grown nearly 6 times more under Democratic presidents
2) Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has grown 7 times more under Democratic presidents
3) Corporate profits have grown over 16% more per year under Democratic presidents (they actually declined under Republicans by an average of 4.53%/year)
4) Average annual compound return on the stock market has been 18 times greater under Democratic presidents (If you invested $100k for 40 years of Republican administrations you had $126k at the end, if you invested $100k for 40 years of Democrat administrations you had $3.9M at the end)
5) Republican presidents added 2.5 times more to the national debt than Democratic presidents
6) The two times the economy steered into the ditch (Great Depression and Great Recession) were during Republican, laissez faire administrations
Stop believing the fairy tales and check out the facts! THAT’S what I would like to tell all the people who say they vote for Republicans because they’re good for business which makes for a stronger economy. Ah, no—not so much.

And how about abortion? Claiming the right is all Pro-Life and the left is full of baby killers, the uninformed vote Republican. As it turns out, the abortion rate drops under Democratic presidents. Under Obama it’s gone down a whopping 13%.
Abortion rate peaked in 1981 under former President Reagan (though he had just taken office), and is at the lowest rate since 1973 as of 2011, under President Obama. The abortion rate had been falling until it “stalled” between 2005 and 2008, under former President Bush.
I only mention it but rock solid, honest sex education and condoms do a hell of a lot more to reduce the rate of unexpected and unwanted pregnancy than moralizing, shaming and bible thumping.

Why does this come up? A Facebook friend posted something about the Clown Car Debate of Thursday night. A friend of hers left a comment saying that anyone on that stage would be a better prez than any of the Democratic hopefuls.

Oh rilly? Based on what? What Fox Myth-makers spoon feed you on a daily basis?

Another, a fellow Vagina American, defended Trump, saying that he just tells the truth without being all politically correct. Huh. So, you’re down and splendid with a president who refers to more than half the citizens of the United States as bimbos? A man who's into publically insulting and humiliating women? An asswipe who calls the babes he doesn't cotton to fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals?

Oh and, by the by, saying “What I say is fun, it’s kidding, we have a good time,“ essentially what, can’t you take a joke? You have no sense of humor, does NOT fly! This egregious piece of roach excrement fully intended to mock, degrade, ridicule and slam his female opponent. At least, brother boy, have the gumption to stand up for your miserable behavior instead of hiding behind the it was a joke defense.

After the debate Trump went on Twitter promoting a tweet calling Megyn Kelly, who challenged him on his misogyny , a bimbo. Yup, he’s real presidential material. Ya know, in the big, vast world you can’t hide behind your Twitter feed and, I only mention it, it’s inadvisable to call the Chancellor of Germany a bimbo if you disagree with her.

So then, lesse, saying that political incorrectness is AOK seems to translate as it’s fine and dandy with for Trump to insult the browns and blacks, Gays and women I don’t like.

Huh. I suppose this fact-free commenter woman's also fine and dandy with all the black and brown people being killed (or dying mysteriously while in custody) by the police because, hey, they wouldn’t have been stopped or arrested if they hadn’t done something wrong. Amirite?

I don’t need to know this person or see any more of her uninformed, ignorant, compassionless, entitled and dimwitted horseshit opinions anymore.

Facts—get some.

    1. Even if Trump drops out, there's nothing but whack-a-loons in that line up. It's scary.
