Allergies

I have a cold, autumn allergies AND my walking (with brace and walker) is still grossly limited and shaky as fuck. I believe I’ll stay in bed with the cat for a few more hours before I rise and  conquer the universe. OK, conquering is distinctly unlikely but I can go downstairs, read and pat Coco in my big emerald velvet chair.

The Four Horsemen whose Ride presages the end of the world are known to be Death, War, Famine, and Pestilence. But even less significant events have their own Horsemen. For example, the Four Horsemen of the Common Cold are Sniffles, Chesty, Nostril, and Lack of Tissues; the Four Horsemen whose appearance foreshadows any public holiday are Storm, Gales, Sleet, and Contra-flow.
~ Terry Pratchett

I used to wake up at 4 A.M. and start sneezing, sometimes for five hours. I tried to find out what sort of allergy I had but finally came to the conclusion that it must be an allergy to consciousness.
~ James Thurber

And what lesson can we draw from Volantene history? If you want to conquer the world, you best have dragons.
~ George R. R. Martin

Naturally, I’m fresh out of dragons.

  1. Grant it's not all that big, and doubtful it could conquer the world, but you do have a dragon downstairs.
