Harewood “House,” (more, an unfathomably pretentious display of obscene wealth than home) was designed by architects John Carr and Robert Adam in the 18th century for Edwin Lascelles, a plantation and slave-owner. His descendant, the 8th Earl of Harewood—David Lascelles and family live there now. Despite it’s enormity this is more country house, weekend and holiday getaway (and income generator) than main crib.

Okay, okay, I’ve looked up a few examples of Adam's work and yes, maybe it IS a touch busy. Plus, overblown displays of buckos is just, for me anyway, a major turn-off.

Yes, I’m still reading Bryson’s book, At Home. This is a deeply engaging rabbit hole of a book but I find myself reaching for Google every four or five pages.

• What does Blenheim Palace look like? n.b. it’s home base for the Duke of Marlborough and has been since the early 1700s.
• What is Norman architecture and who's Norman? Any relation to that fellow Bates?
  
• Gothic Revival—how does it differ from straight up gothic? Is this anything like a Rocky Horror revival?
  

I hope Bryson gets into what the homes of regular folk were like. I do enjoy Richie Rich house porn as much as the next middle classer. That is, I do until I fall into a rage about the smug, greedheaded, über wealthy scum who prey on those of us who lacked the luck of falling into a money patch. Doesn’t take long.

All this, naturally, puts some other vermin (not to diss rats and such, mind you) and miscreants in mind.

Is Rand Paul still alive? If so, has he not said anything egregiously stupid or done any klutzy corruptioning in the last few weeks? That’d be fresh. Maybe the racist quartet, Jerky-boy Cruz, Goodie Graham, Qtip Brain Cotton and Perv Hawley are just hogging the spotlight?

 C’mon reporters, you’ve got a wealth of shitheads saying shitty lying-ass lies—surely you can spread the bad press wealth a bit! The poodle headed Putin suck up MUST be feeling at least a little left out.
