Words and Questions

I FINALLY had a good night’s sleep last night—ten hours of it too. YEA me! Maybe these nasty-ass COVID symptoms are packing their bags and making a bee-line for the door? HOPE!

Question: are all girl cats, lap cats and all boy cats, not? Coco was my only lap cat. She was also the only girl.  Oh wait, maybe it’s just me. All the tomcats who made their home with The Amazing Bob and I liked to sit on his, NOT my, lap. For that matter, Celeste’s big black Lab liked to get cozy on his lap too.

Clearly I have a substandard lap OR, perhaps, I’m a rare acquired taste.

Words for today:

Bifrost
noun
the rainbow bridge from Asgard, the world of the Aesir gods, to earth.

This is all well and groovy but that’s NOT what the word sounds like it means. Nope.

Bifrost is a noun meaning small white ice crystals formed when the temperature falls below freezing which are sexually attracted to frosts of the same OR different genders. E.g., hoarfrost may be attracted to BOTH rime and hoarfrost.

Glad I could straighten this out

Convivial
[ kuhn-viv-ee-uhl ]
adjective
friendly; agreeable.

Ya see, I pronounce it kän-viv-ee-uhl (emphasis on the CON), therefore the definition should be: a cheerful grifter—one who cheats or tricks another by gaining their trust. Also, this is a noun…duh.

Think Anna Delvey not the ungracefully aging, irrelevant Caribou Barbie, who never, ever seemed anything other than nastily preening in her cons.

Debunk
verb
expose the falseness or hollowness of (a myth, idea, or belief).

Yes, yes BUT this also means, to pull the bed out from under someone. This’d be way fun to do to the former guy if for no other reason than to hear that balloon full of gelatinous fecal matter SPLAT as he hit the floor.

Borborygmi
[ bawr-buh-rig-mahy]
plural noun
rumbling or gurgling sounds caused by the movement of gas in the intestines.

I have no variations to offer on this word—I love it just the way it is.

Oof, I had a volcanically loud burst of borborygmi in the middle of Holly and Mike’s wedding ceremony. Yeah, during a quiet part. I’m never gonna live this down. Note to self: never eat leftover black bean burritos for breakfast before going to church.

Delightful!

Happy last day of the weekend!
