…just FYI and shit.
There’s a new, very serious book out about UFO sightings. It’s not a storybook. There are no juicy tales, no first person or as-told-to reports. Nope, this is serious wonk-time.
* Fireballs accounted for just 8% of the sightings in Indiana and less than 5% in Colorado.
* California had the most sightings followed by Florida and Texas.
* D.C. had the fewest sightings of all. Apparently aliens really don’t want to be taken to our leader. Given who’s prez now, I can hardly blame them.
* The city with the most UFO sightings? Phoenix.
I think I want this book. Data is fascinating and mysterious, possibly otherworldly data is just over the top WOW KAZAM interesting.
Related, SF Gate published, back in late March, the incidence of two planes in Arizona reporting the same objet mystérieux.
Could Be, no?

The UFO Sightings Desk Reference: United States of America 2001-2015 presents data and analysis for 100,000+ sightings of unidentified flying objects reported by individuals during the first 15 years of the 21st century. (source)Authors Cheryl Costa, a former military technician and aerospace analyst, and her wife, Linda Miller Costa, a former librarian at the National Academy of Sciences, NASA and the Environmental Protection Agency crunched the mega abundant data which had been collected by MUFON – the Mutual U.F.O. Network, (MUFON) and NUFORC – the National U.F.O. Reporting Center.

The Federal Aviation Administration has no explanation for a mysterious bright object seen by pilots of two separate aircraft over the Arizona desert in February.

…the Learjet pilot cuts in: "I don't know what it was, it wasn't an airplane but it was — the path was going in the opposite direction.”
About a minute passes, and American 1095 radios back:
"Yeah, something just passed over us, like a — I don't know what it was, but it was at least two-three thousand feet above us," the Airbus pilot says. "Yeah, it passed right over the top of us.”
Asked by the flight control officer if it was moving or just hovering, the pilot replies, "I couldn't make it out if it was a balloon or whatnot, but it was just really beaming light or had a big reflection and several thousand feet above us going the opposite direction.”I'm curious, are aliens coming 'round/hangin' out because we pathetic human types are doing such a mondo shit job at taking care of this VERY nice planet? There's not a mega load of fab planets out there. I mean, fuck man, we've got oceans, forests and lions and tigers and bears – oh my! Are the grey (green?) ones thinking, it'd be a nasty-ass shame if these relatively hairless things killed this one off. Let's keep an eye on them. Things get more outta hand we'll call in Humanix or Critter Controllers or someone.

We did, afterall, invite them to "Come! Eat!"
ReplyDeleteand you've just cued up Eric Burdon singing "Spill the wine, take that pearl" on my internal turntable. Molto grazie!
